Detailed 13-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Tashkent. Arrival in Tashkent
Flight to Tashkent. Arrival in the evening or early morning of the next day (depending on flight connections). Your guide will meet you at the international airport and escort you to your hotel.
One night in Tashkent.

Day 2: Tashkent – Uhum Village
After breakfast at the hotel, take a tour of Tashkent’s old town, starting with the Khast-Imam Complex. At the large square, the Barak-Khan Madrassa and Kaffal-Shashi Mausoleum testify to Tashkent’s past as a center of Islamic culture and religion. The madrassa’s library houses the oldest Quran manuscript, dating to the third Caliph, Uthman.
Next, visit the “Chorsu” Bazaar, famous since the Middle Ages, located at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road’s caravanserais. It’s one of Tashkent’s largest markets, near the city center.
After a lunch break, travel to Ashraf Village (270 km). One night in a guesthouse in Ashraf.

Day 3: Uhum Village – Sentob Village
These mountain villages have been inhabited since the time of Alexander the Great. Houses and stables have been built the same way for centuries; women cook over open fires, weave, spin yarn, bake their own bread, and milk cows. Men farm, raise goats and sheep, and build houses from stone and clay.
Staying in this mountain village allows you to participate in local life—walking or horseback riding, helping cook traditional dishes, and experiencing the culture up close.
Around noon, travel to the next mountain village, Sentob (7 km).
Overnight in a guesthouse. Lunch with a local family.
In the afternoon, hike to the Sentob River, where numerous petroglyphs, some over 900 years old, are found on rocks. With luck, you may see wild horses, a golden eagle, or partridges. Dinner with the family. Two nights in a guesthouse in Sentob.

Day 4: Sentob – Fazilman Lake – Sentob
Today’s hike takes us through green gardens to the Fazilman Valley (1,640 m)—a wide valley surrounded by mountains.
Along the way, we discover petroglyphs in caves and abandoned stone houses.
At noon, we picnic at Fazilman Lake, a small, reed-covered lake.
In the afternoon, return to the village. Dinner with the family.

Day 5: Sentob – Sob – Aydarkul
Early morning hike (2.5 hours) to a mountain pass (2,035 m), then descend to Sob Village, where our bus awaits.
Travel through the Kyzylkum Desert to Yangikazgan’s yurt camp.
Picnic by the lake.
Optional camel rides or 4–5 km trekking to Aydarkul Lake, plus a 5 km hike along the lake.
At the lake, depending on the season, you can swim or observe wildlife—potentially steppe tortoises, hares, or desert agamas. Overnight in the yurt camp.

Day 6: Aydarkul – Nurata – Gijduvan – Bukhara
Travel to the ancient city of Nurata, visiting the Nurata Mausoleum and ruins of Alexander the Great’s fortress. The city’s name comes from the Nur Fortress, founded in the 4th century BC as a garrison for Alexander’s troops.
The refreshing Chashma spring was the main reason for settlement here. Today, the sacred Chashma is a pilgrimage site and one of the region’s key Islamic religious centers.
After lunch, continue via Gijduvan to Bukhara.
Bukhara is known as “The Holy Land of 7,000 Peers (Sacred Teachers).”
Your pilgrimage to Sufi holy sites begins with visiting the tombs of some of the seven Sufi leaders outside the city.
In Gijduvan, visit the tomb complex of Abdulhalik Gijduvani (1103–1179). The city is also renowned across Uzbekistan for its warm-colored ceramics.
Arrive in Bukhara in the late afternoon.
After hotel check-in, stroll through the old town. Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 7: Bukhara
Bukhoroi Sharif (“Noble Bukhara”) is a city of grand madrassas (Quranic schools) and active mosques dating back to antiquity.
Your tour begins with the Poi-Kalyan Complex. The Ark Fortress stands out—a monumental fortification that served as the residence of Bukhara’s emirs for centuries until Soviet rule.
Bukhara’s oldest Islamic site and a masterpiece of early Islamic architecture is the Ismail Samani Mausoleum.
Other highlights include the domed trading arcades in the old town:

Day 8: Bukhara – Shakhrisabz – Ayakchi

City tour, visiting the ruins of:

Day 9: Ayakchi – Alvastikul – Sholipoya
Hike for six hours through the beautiful Alvastikul Village (“Devil’s Lake”) to the Takhtakaracha Pass (1,250 m).
Here, we reach the highest plain of the Ayakchi River, with stunning views in all directions.
Picnic lunch.
In the afternoon, arrive in Sholipoya Village (1,200 m).
Dinner and overnight with a family in Sholipoya.

Day 10: Sholipoya – Tersak
Our next destination is Tersak Village.
